Softball Recap: Peninsula Triumphs

Peninsula saw some tournament action on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Hart Hawks. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Sienna Saggiani spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaydence Lang, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Audrina Gamez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Peninsula hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hart struck out seven times.

The victory made it two in a row for Peninsula and bumps their season record up to 5-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hart, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coincidentally, Peninsula and Hart will both be playing El Toro the next time they take the field. Hart will head out to face El Toro at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Peninsula will play them later in the day, at 7:15 p.m.
