Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Meigs Marauders and fell 84-31. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 793rd, while the Marauders are ranked 73rd).

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Landon Burns. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 12 en route to 10 points. What's more, Burns also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Meigs, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will take on Nelsonville-York at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meigs, they will challenge Wellston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meigs is facing Wellston at the right time seeing as Wellston is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
