Softball Recap: Jasper Comes Up Short

Jasper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 12-1 to the Bridge City Cardinals. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Erika Gomez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. K Wysingle also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Jasper's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-2. As for Bridge City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7-1.

Coming up, Jasper will head out on the road to square off against Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Little Cypress-Mauriceville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season. As for Bridge City, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Bridge City Cardinals challenge Crosby Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
