Basketball Recap: Seward's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Seward had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 52-46 W over the Waverly Vikings. For the Bluejays, this counts as revenge for the 47-42 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Waverly's loss came despite strong showings from Brady Schieffer and Ashton Heffelfinger. Schieffer dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, while Heffelfinger went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points. Those 17 points gave Schieffer a new career-high.

Seward's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Waverly, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Seward will look to defend their home court on Friday against Aurora at 7:30 p.m. Waverly has already played their next contest (against Wahoo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
