Basketball Recap: Johnson County's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Johnson County lost against St. James back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Johnson County Longhorns took a hard 44-26 fall against the St. James Sharks. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 293rd in Tennessee, while the Sharks are ranked 106th in South Carolina).

Despite the defeat, Johnson County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore MacKenzie McClain posted 22 points and three steals. The match was McClain's third in a row with at least ten points.

Johnson County moved to 6-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for St. James, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Johnson County will head out to take on Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Patrick Henry has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for St. James, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-23 defeat against Wando on the 3rd.
