Basketball Preview: Cristo Rey Royals vs. St. Margaret's Scotties
The Cristo Rey Royals will head out on the road to square off against the St. Margaret's Scotties at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cristo Rey is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Cristo Rey came up short against the Eagles and fell 35-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cristo Rey in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, St. Margaret's took a serious blow against the Rapids on Saturday, falling 82-43. While losing is never fun, St. Margaret's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Rapids are ranked seventh).
Paula Carrillo put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilona Syzdek, who scored eight points.
Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for St. Margaret's, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
