Meanwhile, Alexander posted their closest win since April 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past River Valley 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Mason Morris was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Ray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Alexander's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Paint Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Paint Valley's way against Alexander when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Paint Valley made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
