Bryan had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Springfield Blue Devils 3-2. For the Golden Bears, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Blue Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.
Giesle Kidston paced Bryan's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kidston got some help from Jozie Cordy and her 32 assists. Ava Neubig controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Springfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Macey Grymkowski, who had 11 digs, eight kills, and two aces. Another player making a difference was Addison Polefko, who had 14 digs and three aces.
Bryan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Holgate on the 19th. As for Springfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Northview on the 21st.
