Basketball Game Preview: Centreville Wildcats vs. Langley Saxons

The Centreville Wildcats will square off against the Langley Saxons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Centreville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They strolled past McLean with points to spare, taking the game 47-33. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Highlanders are ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Langley came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 61-44 win over the Warhawks.

Centreville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. Langley pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home.

Centreville strolled past Langley when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 48-32. Will Centreville repeat their success, or does Langley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
