Preview: Round Lake Panthers vs. Lakes Eagles
Round Lake has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Lakes Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Friday, Round Lake came up short against Antioch and fell 45-38. While losing is never fun, Round Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while Antioch is ranked 247th).
Meanwhile, Lakes also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Antioch by a score of 50-39. Lakes has not had much luck with Antioch recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Round Lake has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Round Lake came up short against Lakes in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 39-30. Can Round Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
