Baseball Game Preview: Granite Bay Grizzlies vs. Whitney Wildcats

For the second straight game, Granite Bay will face off against Whitney. Granite Bay will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Whitney at 4:00 p.m.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Granite Bay turned things around against Whitney on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 9-8. The Grizzlies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Logan Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Granite Bay let Andrew Jones and Jace Bystrowski run wild. Jones scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Bystrowski scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, Jones posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adejare Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Granite Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Whitney is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Granite Bay, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6.
