Football Game Preview: Scappoose Indians vs. Baker Bulldogs

Scappoose has gone a perfect 3-0 against Baker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Indians will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Scappoose knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Baker likes a good challenge.

Scappoose's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Gladstone/Riverdale, posting a 40-0 win. The Indians' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Scappoose's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Will Kessi, who threw for 177 yards and one TD on only 12 passes, and Elijah Greenan Biggs, who rushed for 13 yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Scappoose was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Baker). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over The Dalles. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Scappoose pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.3 points on average over those games. As for Baker, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Scappoose against Baker in their previous matchup back in September, as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
