Softball Game Preview: Pinkerton Astros vs. Exeter Blue Hawks

The Pinkerton Astros will take on the Exeter Blue Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Pinkerton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Exeter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pinkerton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Goffstown, who was ranked seventh at the time (Pinkerton was ranked fifth). The Astros put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 7-1 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Astros, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Exeter didn't have quite enough to beat Keene on Friday and fell 4-3.

Pinkerton's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.3 runs. As for Exeter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season.

Pinkerton came out on top in a nail-biter against Exeter in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Astros repeat their success, or do the Blue Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
