Baseball Game Preview: Three Rivers Bulldogs vs. Charlotte Trojans

The Three Rivers Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Charlotte Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Three Rivers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Three Rivers was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Brackett on Tuesday. Three Rivers was the clear victors by an 18-9 margin over Brackett. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jayse Alvarado was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 11 hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Dragon, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Cody Sells was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Three Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Charlotte came up short against Sabinal on Tuesday, falling 14-4.

Josh Gaitan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. William Barahona also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win got Three Rivers back to even at 5-5. As for Charlotte, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Three Rivers skirted past Charlotte 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Three Rivers repeat their success, or does Charlotte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
