Pleasant Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Shasta since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Defeat or not, Pleasant Valley got some senior leadership from Keith Thompson and Anthony Sanchez. Thompson went 10-for-15 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds, while Sanchez posted 11 points. With that strong performance, Thompson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.
Meanwhile, Shasta lost a heartbreaker to Red Bluff when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Shasta fell 58-46 to Red Bluff. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Pleasant Valley will need to focus on slowing down Julian Turner, one of several Shasta players who made an impact when they last played. He earned 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Conner, who put up nine points.
Pleasant Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points over those games. As for Shasta, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pleasant Valley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Shasta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
