Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Alter Falls Despite Big Games from Bella Markowski and Maya Regalla

Archbishop Alter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairmont Firebirds. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Firebirds when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Archbishop Alter was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fairmont work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25, 11-25, 25-14.

Archbishop Alter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maya Regalla, who had 14 digs, and Bella Markowski, who had 11 assists and two aces. Regalla is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Archbishop Alter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Fairmont, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.

Archbishop Alter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Carroll on the 16th. As for Fairmont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Miamisburg on the 16th.
