Softball Recap: Fruitvale Comes Up Short

Fruitvale came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Alba-Golden Panthers by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Kyla Bain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madyson Bierl was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnye Tull, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Fruitvale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Alba-Golden, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fruitvale will challenge Cumby at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alba-Golden, they will square off against Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
