Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Murrieta Valley

The Chaparral Pumas will head out on the road to square off against the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Chaparral managed to keep up with Great Oak until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Chaparral came up short against Great Oak, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Pumas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 863rd, while the Wolfpack are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Murrieta Valley after they claimed the first score on Wednesday, but it was Vista Murrieta who ended up claiming the real prize. Murrieta Valley fell just short of Vista Murrieta by a score of 3-2. The Nighthawks haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Chaparral came up short against Murrieta Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
