The Strawberry Crest Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the Riverview Sharks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Strawberry Crest has five straight victories, Riverview has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Strawberry Crest is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Chamberlain with a sharp 13-0 win on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 16, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Saxon Shah and Nico Cappucci made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Shah tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cappucci tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shah has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Shah scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Cappucci scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Dillon Knight was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Yusvanny Parra also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Strawberry Crest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chamberlain struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Riverview fell victim to Newsome and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Wolves. The game marked the first time this year in which the Sharks were not able to get on the board.
Strawberry Crest's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Riverview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Strawberry Crest's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. Strawberry Crest has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Riverview, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Strawberry Crest continue to outrun the ball?
Strawberry Crest was able to grind out a solid win over Riverview in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Strawberry Crest since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
