Volleyball Recap: Plainfield East Takes a Loss

Plainfield East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Belleville East Lancers. While the Bengals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lancers 25-20 in the first set.

Plainfield East started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Gabriella Schemidt paced Plainfield East's offense, picking up seven kills. Schemidt got some help from Alaina Nino and her 13 assists. Kyra Jordan and Giada Migliavacca kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Plainfield East's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Belleville East, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

Plainfield East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Belleville West on the 4th. As for Belleville East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Waterloo on the 3rd.
