Baseball Recap: Whitehall Comes Up Short

Whitehall couldn't beat Hadley Luzerne on Friday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the third inning. The Railroaders took a 17-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Railroaders in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Mason Cigana and Thomas Barber did some serious damage despite the final result: Cigana got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Barber went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Anthony Towle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Whitehall's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hadley Luzerne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-3-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitehall will host Poultney at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hadley Luzerne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Corinth at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
