Basketball Recap: Marshall Triumphs

Marshall picked up another tournament win on Friday. They secured a 69-65 W over the Caney Creek Panthers.

Jason Vidaurri continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists. What's more, he also posted a 73% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Liam Curry, who went 5-for-10 en route to 17 points.

Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Caney Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Marshall will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Bastrop at 9:00 a.m. The Rams will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Caney Creek, they and Hays will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
