Basketball Recap: Friendship Collegiate Academy Takes a Loss

Friendship Collegiate Academy and Maret squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Friendship Collegiate Academy had to settle for second. They were dealt a 64-32 defeat at the hands of the Maret Frogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since January 25th.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Z'Niyah Moore, who posted eight points and eight boards. What's more, Moore also posted an 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Miyazia Harris, who scored ten points and five rebounds.

Maret got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Austin out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Austin also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Maret is 18-6 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. London Liley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds.

Friendship Collegiate Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Maret, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Friendship Collegiate Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maret, they will square off against Sidwell Friends at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sidwell Friends will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Maret surely won't give up without a fight.
