Baseball Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

If Taft was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Kennedy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Taft came up short against the Kerman Lions on Tuesday, falling 7-1.

Taft saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Espinoza, who went 3-for-4 with one double. That's the most hits Espinoza has posted since back in March of 2024.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Kerman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1.

Looking ahead, Taft will welcome Garces Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Garces Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Taft's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kerman, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Kerman Lions face off against Clovis Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
