Chris Tamukedde of Lowell Catholic ran for the longest rushing play in Catholic Central - Small this season against Greater Lowell Tech last week. Tamukedde ran for 87 yards on the play and finished with 192 on the day as his team topped the Gryphons.
Marian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league. The Mustangs vanquished the Mustangs 26-14 earlier in the week.
Pope John XXIII's dynamic duo of Mike Sullivan and Khaneil Bruce proved tough for Northeast Metro RVT to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sullivan threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns and Bruce had 98 yards receiving. Manny Wilkerson helped Pope John XXIII's passing attack out by catching three balls for 36 yards.
Adam Wentzel provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lowell Catholic beat Greater Lowell Tech. He completed nine passes for 141 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 63 yards. Wentzel's favorite target this week was Chris Regan, who caught four passes for 93 yards.
Pope John XXIII's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sullivan has thrown for 665 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Bruce has 23 catches for 390 yards. Joe D'onofrio leads the league in rushing with 396 yards.
A big matchup in Catholic Central - Small this week will be when Matignon takes on Pope John Paul II. As it stands, the Warriors are in sixth, while Pope John Paul II is in third.
Rick Sampson's team moved up to 186 from 224 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Crusaders were able to make the jump by beating the Gryphons 43-6.
