Preview: Myrtle Beach Seahawks vs. May River Sharks
Myrtle Beach has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The May River Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Myrtle Beach can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 56-21 victory over North Myrtle Beach. Given Myrtle Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while North Myrtle Beach is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, May River sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-6 win over Hilton Head Island on Friday.
Myrtle Beach's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.2 points per game. As for May River, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Myrtle Beach skirted past May River 24-21 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Myrtle Beach repeat their success, or does May River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
