Basketball Recap: Lawrence Academy Skates Past Halifax Academy with Ease

Lawrence Academy lost to Halifax Academy back in November of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Lawrence Academy Warriors breezed by the Halifax Academy Vikings to the tune of 72-41. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Nike Wiggins was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 22 en route to 28 points and six boards. His evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Hoggard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Lawrence Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Halifax Academy still got an impressive performance from Landon Peoples, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Mason Burr, who posted three points and three steals.

Lawrence Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Halifax Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lawrence Academy has already played their next contest, a 68-61 defeat against Ridgecroft on the 14th. As for Halifax Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 86-42 loss against Fayetteville Academy on the 14th.
