Softball Game Preview: Fleming County Panthers vs. Rowan County Vikings

The Fleming County Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Rowan County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fleming County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Russell hit Fleming County with a five-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 9-4 to the Red Devils.

Abby Ross was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Abree Argo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ariana Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Rowan County faced Greenup County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Vikings took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Musketeers.

Lauryn Eastham made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Fleming County's record is now 6-15. As for Rowan County, their record now sits at 20-6.

Fleming County suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Rowan County in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
