Basketball Recap: Wawasee Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Wawasee unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 70-26 loss at the hands of the Northridge Raiders. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Wawasee still got an impressive performance from Ava Couture, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Couture has posted since back in November of 2023.

Northridge found their leader in sophomore Lily Scholl, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Scholl also set a new season-high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Ella Mohamed, who posted eight points.

Wawasee's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Northridge, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Wawasee and Northridge should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Wawasee (ranked 82nd) will meet Goshen (ranked 241st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northridge (ranked seventh) will meet Concord (ranked 232nd) at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
