Recap: North Murray Mountaineers vs. Model Blue Devils

The North Murray Mountaineers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Model by a score of 21-14. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but North Murray was the (much) better team in the second half.

Leading North Murray to victory were Skyler Williams and Judson Petty. Williams rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, while Petty gained 236 total yards and two touchdowns. Hudson Hulett also helped out with an impressive 125 receiving yards.

North Murray's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Ridgeland and 1-7 Murray County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for Model, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

North Murray will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Model, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gordon Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gordon Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
