Basketball Recap: Luray Find Success

Luray posted their closest victory since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-29 win over the Madison County Mountaineers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-20 on January 3rd.

Several Mountaineers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ally Cave, who posted seven points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave Cave a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michelle Thompson, who had seven points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Luray is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Madison County, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luray will host Stonewall Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luray is facing Stonewall Jackson at the right time seeing as Stonewall Jackson is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. Madison County has already played their next matchup (against Strasburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
