Basketball Recap: Loyola Blakefield Takes a Loss

Loyola Blakefield was the 62-58 winner over McDonogh when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Loyola Blakefield Dons took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McDonogh Eagles on Friday. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Loyola Blakefield still got an impressive performance from Mason Ellison, who posted 24 points. Terry Brooks was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonogh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Robert Moore, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bj Hopkins, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Loyola Blakefield's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for McDonogh, their record is now 9-5.

Loyola Blakefield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-62 defeat against St. Frances Academy on the 13th. McDonogh has also already played their next matchup, a 65-45 loss against Mount St. Joseph on the 15th.
