Baseball Game Preview: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. Canyon Comanches

The Segerstrom Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Canyon Comanches at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Segerstrom didn't have quite enough to beat Buena Park and fell 5-4.

Vicente Najera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Segerstrom: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Jonathan Macias was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Roman Saucedo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Canyon never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against Pacifica by a score of 4-0. The game marked the Comanches' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Nathan Fuzzard looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Lau, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Segerstrom now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Canyon, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
