If Cardinal Mooney beats South Range with 14 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Cardinals' pitchers stepped up to hand Liberty a 14-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Ben Oddis made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Ford Stacy looked comfortable as he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Reese, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Reese, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cardinal Mooney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .448 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Range, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Garfield on Saturday as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cardinal Mooney's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Range, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
Cardinal Mooney suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to South Range when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
