Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Huskies vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

The Hamilton Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hamilton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mesa by a score of 53-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Sunnyslope over Paradise Honors in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sunnyslope blew Paradise Honors out of the water with a 64-27 final score. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Sunnyslope's win came from a few key players Hamilton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jackie Wentworth, who went 6-for-7 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. What's more, she also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Teagan McIlroy, who posted ten points along with six boards and five assists.

Sunnyslope was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise Honors only racked up nine assists.

Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Sunnyslope, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Hamilton strolled past Sunnyslope in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 65-46. Does Hamilton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunnyslope turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
