Softball Game Preview: Augusta Beavers vs. Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran Lancers

Augusta hasn't had much luck against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Beavers will be playing at home against the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Augusta didn't have quite enough to beat Eleva-Strum and fell 5-3. The Beavers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Laney O'Brien was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

O'Brien wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Bergman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 8-1 to Melrose-Mindoro.

Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Augusta, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Augusta skirted past Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
