Baseball Game Preview: Glens Falls Black Bears vs. Broadalbin-Perth Patriots

The Glens Falls Black Bears will face off against the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Glens Falls managed to slip by Scotia-Glenville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Black Bears came up short against the Tartans on Monday, falling 11-2.

Jacob Hubert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Broadalbin-Perth nor South Glens Falls made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Patriots took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The match marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Glens Falls' loss dropped their record down to 8-5-1. As for Broadalbin-Perth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Glens Falls' speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Black Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Broadalbin-Perth, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Glens Falls continue to outrun the ball?

Glens Falls was able to grind out a solid win over Broadalbin-Perth in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Black Bears repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
