Softball Recap: Sweetwater Beats Tellico Plains for Their 13th Straight Win

Sweetwater put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Tellico Plains Bears get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

The result came thanks to Sadie Scott's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Sweetwater's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Tellico Plains, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sweetwater will venture away from home to take on Greenback at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cherokees have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Tellico Plains, they will head out to challenge Meigs County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
