Baseball Recap: Seven Straight Home Victories for Marist

Marist proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The RedHawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hilltoppers, too.

Not much got past Collin Lawlor, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Joliet Catholic off the board. Lawlor has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Marist pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Joliet Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Marist will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hilltoppers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
