Softball Recap: Sharpsville Blue Devils vs. Hickory Hornets
In what's become a running theme this season, Sharpsville gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 17-3 margin over the Hickory Hornets. That's more bragging rights for Sharpsville, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Jordan Brest made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Brest has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive pitching appearances. Brest was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Sharpsville got a massive performance out of Izzie Candiotti, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Lily Palko, who went 1-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
On Hickory's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Witherite, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Sharpsville's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Hickory, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.
