Soccer Game Preview: Berkeley Prep vs. St. Petersburg Catholic

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers will face off against the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Saturday, Berkeley Prep came up short against Florida State University High School and fell 3-1. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of four yellow cards before it was all over.

Berkeley Prep's goal came courtesy of Johnathan Poisson, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, St. Petersburg Catholic brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Their defense stepped up to hand Indian Rocks Christian an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Barons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

St. Petersburg Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Berkeley Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6-3.

Berkeley Prep beat St. Petersburg Catholic 3-1 when the teams last played back in December of 2018. Will Berkeley Prep repeat their success, or does St. Petersburg Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
