Recap: Johnson Atomsmashers vs. Savannah Bluejackets
The Johnson Atomsmashers won against the Savannah Bluejackets on Wednesday with 47 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Johnson had just enough and edged Savannah out 47-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Johnson.
Several Bluejackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tania Bryant, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Bryant's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Williams, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Savannah, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.
Johnson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hilton Head Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hilton Head Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Johnson in their respective states (Hilton Head Christian Academy is ranked 73rd in South Carolina, while Johnson is ranked 268th in Georgia). Savannah won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Windsor Forest at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th.
