Baseball Game Preview: Glen Ridge Ridgers vs. Verona Hillbillies

The Glen Ridge Ridgers will head out to challenge the Verona Hillbillies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Glen Ridge has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Glen Ridge came up short against Bloomfield on Saturday, falling 14-8. The Ridgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Matt Bayne was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Gabe Carter was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Verona won against St. Benedict's Prep on Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Hillbillies walked away with an 11-6 win over Caldwell. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hillbillies.

Verona's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Glen Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Glen Ridge couldn't quite get it done against Verona in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Ridgers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
