Baseball Recap: Yazoo County's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Yazoo County entered their tilt with Clinton Christian Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Clinton Christian Academy Warriors 12-2. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly ten runs.

Parker Barron was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TJ Rials, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Graelan Shaffer, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Yazoo County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clinton Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .200.

The victory got Yazoo County back to even at 5-5. As for Clinton Christian Academy, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Yazoo County Panthers face off against Edwards Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give Yazoo County their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. Clinton Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Greenville Christian at 4:00 p.m. on March 18th.
