Basketball Game Preview: Smith County Owls vs. Clarkrange Buffaloes

Smith County is 0-5 against Clarkrange since January of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Smith County Owls will get right back to it and host the Clarkrange Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Smith County comes in on four and Clarkrange on three.

If Smith County beats Clarkrange with 70 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Smith County simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Monterey 70-27. The Owls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Clarkrange strolled past Gordonsville with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 48-29. Given the Buffaloes' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Tigers are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clarkrange's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Smith County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Smith County and Clarkrange were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but Smith County came up empty-handed after a 44-43 loss.
