Baseball Game Preview: Salesian Mustangs vs. El Rancho Dons

The Salesian Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the El Rancho Dons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Salesian can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Monday. They came up short against Hoover, falling 11-1. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Mark Velasco made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, while El Rancho put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Artesia. The Dons came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 4-0.

Elias Moreno looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Athan Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Alex Aparcio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Salesian might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from El Rancho when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
