Basketball Game Preview: Bunker Hill Minutemen vs. Carlinville Cavaliers

Two dominant forwards in Cole Yates and Sawyer Smith are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bunker Hill Minutemen will head out to take on the Carlinville Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Bunker Hill nor Carlinville posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Bunker Hill is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since December 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 51-25 to Staunton. The defeat continues a trend for the Minutemen in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Yates, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Carlinville lost to Southwestern at home by a 46-28 margin on Wednesday. The game marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Carlinville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
