Basketball Recap: North Forsyth Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

If West Stokes wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played North Forsyth, they should've done a better job of containing Jylyia Mizell. The North Forsyth Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 win over the West Stokes Wildcats on Friday thanks to Mizell, who posted 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of North Forsyth's points.

Taniyah Warren was another key player, putting up 12 boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

West Stokes' loss came despite strong showings from Kathryn Davis and Claire Edmonds. Davis almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 rebounds, while Edmonds went 6-for-15 en route to 16 points and three steals. West Stokes is 2-1 when Davis posts ten or more boards, but 8-11 otherwise.

North Forsyth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for West Stokes, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

North Forsyth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-34 victory against McMichael on the 12th. As for West Stokes, they have also already played their next game, a 60-16 defeat against T.W. Andrews on the 13th.
