Softball Recap: Lynn Camp Wildcats vs. Pineville Mountain Lions
Lynn Camp extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They came up short against the Pineville Mountain Lions, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountain Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Friday.
As for Pineville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
For Pineville's part, Rachel Howard was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Howard has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Monica Whitehead, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
