Recap: Hyde Phoenix vs. Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners
The Hyde Phoenix kicked off their season on the road on Sunday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a serious blow against Rocky Hill Country Day, falling 77-43. Hyde was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rocky Hill Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Mahar, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Mahar also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliona Nikulina, who scored 21 points.
Hyde's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Hyde will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Aberdeen at 12:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Rocky Hill Country Day will be home for the holidays to greet Lexington Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
